1To the conductor, a song of David. 2How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? 3How long will I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart by day; how long will my enemy have the upper hand over me? 4Look and answer me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes lest I sleep the sleep of death. 5Lest my enemy say, "I have overwhelmed him"; my adversaries will rejoice when I totter. 6But I trusted in Your loving-kindness, my heart will rejoice in Your salvation; I will sing to the Lord for He has bestowed [it] upon me.
